This year during Bay State Bike Week, MassBike and WalkBoston are co-sponsoring the first ever Massachusetts Bike/Walk Summit. We have set up registration for the free event, and now need to get the State House teeming with bike and pedestrian advocates. Let’s get Beacon Hill moving!
- Before you arrive: Call in to your state legislators’ offices to set up a meeting time.
- 10:00 – 12:00 PM: Check in at Nurses’ Hall, get materials and tips, and meet with your legislators.
- 12:00 – 1:00 PM: Come back to Nurses’ Hall for lunch and a guest speaker (TBA).
Tell your legislators that biking and walking is important in your community!
Because things can change quickly, we are still determining what legislation will be a part of our “ask”. Taking a larger view, however, this year is critical for making it known how important biking and walking is in our communities. With federal funding in crisis and the state’s transportation finances also troubling, we need to make sure the legislature doesn’t leave out biking and walking as they consider the bigger picture.
There will be limited opportunity for organizations to have tables at the event to provide information to legislators, their staff members and other event participants. If you are interested in tabling, or if you have any questions about the event, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
